Panama Jacks was on the north side of the Clyde, by the suspension bridge, and it later became the Trading Post.

Can't vouch for the Devils Advocate, but I think that it was next door to Panama Jacks.

There is/was a Devils Advocate pub/restaurant across from the back entrance of the Sheriff Court.

Dexter, As far as i can remember there wasn't any live music that night, although with all the free bevvy
flowing that could have been a alcohol induced perception on my part.

Riotgrrl, There was definetely a Devils advocate below and to the side of Panama Jacks at the suspension bridge during the 80,s

JayKay, I am almost certain that The Trading Post was on or around Carlton Place at the South side of the bridge, but i seem to remember that there was a massive advertisement for the TP at the side of PJ,s

The Trading Post was on the North side of the river, not far from Dixon Street

I am pretty sure it has been on both sides of the river. It was in Carlton Place in the first instance, then it moved over to the North side of the river after a few years to the place where Pier39 used to be.

Panama Jaxx and The Devils Advocate were further along on the other side of the suspension bridge, the two clubs were connected by a corridor as I remember delivering there as a summer job van boy for William Mortons (The Bevvy people not the Rolls) many years ago. Panama Jaxx was featured in an episode of Taggart (where in Glasgow hasn't)

We had steak when we were there. I seem to remember a big gingham theme too.

Did the Brunswick Cellers ever trade as Sparkles?
I had my first real pub pint in that place , down stairs off Sauchiehall St?
Really nice green glittery wallpaper.

I think they did. I suppose being a gay bar it was easier for you under age drinkers.

It weren't no gay bar when I drank there thank you very much. 8O
Or it might have been as I never entered the establishment sober. ::):

Me and my mates started underage drinking at around 14.
Because I was the oldest looking, I had to go into the Smugglers Arms offy in Saltcoats and buy the numerous bottles of Elderado, Thunderbird Blue Label and Buckie. then we'd go down the rocks behind the Pavilion Bowl (now gone replaced by the Appollo Cinema). We kept ourselves to ourselves and didn't feel the need to go and terrorise people like the neds of today. :x

My first underage pint was in the Dockers Bar in Ardrossan harbour. It was mobbed and I still managed to get caught by a neighbour. But he didn't shop me. 8)

And before I get flamed for going off-topic, I've just mentioned two pubs and an off licence that are long forgotten.....albeit not in Glasgow.

It was in Ashley street it was the RAFA club and as you described in the basement. i think both Goodfoot and an early version of Friday Street had nights there and it closed earler this year.
