I didnt think it stank at all, apart from some areas at the entrances. Certainly,
I've smelt worse! :D

I don't think I'll be cycling the Clyde Tunnel again.

This is what happened last time!

Under the tunnels

Postby gordonjcp » Fri Mar 12, 2004 12:13 pm

Having driven through the road tunnels hundreds of times, I walked through for the first time ever a week or two ago. I can confirm that the pedestrian tunnels are *under* the road tunnels - on the westerly tunnel roof about the middle there is a metal manhole cover that gives access to the road tunnel. I've no idea why, anyone climbing out would be run over, and anyone climbing down would fall about 7 or 8 feet. Keep an eye out for it in the left-hand lane, near the bottom, in the northbound road tunnel...

Reverend Scapegoat - are you David Irvine's mate?

In reply to that picture on the previous page of this thread.

Heriothill or Rodney Street tunnel is pictured, only 148 yards in length and is one of 3 tunnels on the line.
The other 2 are the impressive 1052 yard Scotland Street, then the 150 yard Trinity tunnel, which is now a cyclepath.
