St. Peter's Cemetery, Dalbeith.
I don't pick up the mail
I don't pick up the phone
I don't answer the door
I'd just as soon be alone
Image

I don't keep this place up
I just keep the lights down
I don't live in these rooms
I just rattle around
Image

I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
As quietly as a mouse I haunt these halls
Image

I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
You took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house
Image

I don't care if it rains
I don't care if it's clear
I don't mind staying in
There's another ghost here
Image

He sits down in your chair
And he shines with your light
And he lays down his head
On your pillow at night
Image

I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
Image

I'm living proof of the damage
Heartbreak does
Image

I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
Image

That once burned out of control
And took my body and soul
Image

I'm just a ghost in this house

What's the chat with Maryhill Old Parish Church on Maryhill Road?

After John Burns demolished the Church building in 1999 (arson once again claiming another Glasgow landmark) the site has been a total eyesore - rubble obscuring most of the headstones. It's a disgrace, but is anything being done about it?

I read something about the Lands Tribunal being involved, does this mean that Burns is playing hardball with the Council?

Here the Church is seen in its heyday:

The cemetery contains three distinct areas: the "Western Necropolis" "St. Kentigern's RC Cemetery" & "Lambhill Cemetery"
The location is approx halfway up Maryhill Rd. then hang a right

Cardonald Cemetery

Not much of a marker for Arthur but I suppose it's the thought that counts
Image

My father served in the Royal Artillery during the War, which is why I took this one. Ironically in 1941 he was the same age, 28 years old.

The symbolism on this stone intrigues me. Is it Masonic?

I hope I am puttung these in the right thread.

When I was 13 my family moved to Lochmaddy avenue in Cathcart (when I was 16 I found them ::): ) and at the bottom of our street was Cathcart cemetary.
Not surprising then that I spent a lot of time with mates playing there.
When I got a bit older I began to appriciate the beauty of the place and being right next to it, when it snowed about 15 years ago, I headed off into the cemetary with a cheap point and shoot camera to take some pics before too many dog walkers left footprints.

When I was studying silversmithing at Cardonald college and had to do a project for the photography part of the course it seemed pretty obvious (and it didnt require too much effort) to take pics of the cemetary. One morning there was a lovely mist in the air so off I went with a better camera (Nikon F601AF) and some B&W film and got these;

Then this year I as writing an article for a VW magazine on my girlfriends Beetle which she calles Fester (due to the number plate) and again it seemed obvious to head into the cemetary. (We were very respectfull incase you are worried)

And while there I took some footage and edited it up into this wee video (not that kind of video ::): )
