I'd wondered what the stone circles were all about, cheers HH :)

Love te idea of McPhuns Park! Wonder how big it will be allowed to get? Something really quite solemn about the stones, kind of reminds me of te te Holocaust memorial in Berlin.

What a gorgeous set piece of Nelsons Monument, the amphitheatre and bandstand (complete with echoes of the Peoples Palace in its roof)! Bring it back, sing it back!
here i go, it's coming for me through the trees

Yes, it's beautiful, crusty. Is that allotments to the right or council nurseries?

great photo Crusty.

It would be great to have a photo of this today for the Hidden War Memorials topic. Both Nelson's Monumnet and McPhuns Park are listed in the Councils Memorials.

One evening, a couple of months ago, I was walking through the Green when I came accross a group of Scots lads & lassies in training for some
athletic event, nice to see the Green in use I was thinking. A little further on I chanced upon a game of Cricket, all of the players were of Asian extraction, though no doubt, given their ages, most were born in this dear green place.

A little further on, I wandered into a very energetic football game, both teams were made up of folk of a middle eastern persuasion,
Iranians mabye, with one inebriated old Scotsman being invited in for a kick of the baw, naw, no me ::):

Thing is, the Green is being used by a community, it is after all, Glasgow's Green. With all the talk these days of integration & seperation, it was a good thing to see.

Nice one HH.

Great to hear that of these examples. During the week you do tend to see more people walking through the park.

I personally find that people (unless they are shop-owners ) tend not to get into conversation with me & you unless they were born here.! When someone as black as the ace of spades comes over to you & talks in a broad Glaswegian accent you tend not to notice his/her colour unless it is pointed out to you. I work with 2 coulered guys(both born & bred in Glasgow), 4 polish, 1 Lithuanian & about 20 scots & we seem to be o.k. ::): *coloured.
