LUXURIOUS

I saw it a few weeks ago, straight-on as I was walking across the Green and I didn't think it looked all that out of place in relation to the Boswell building. But I daresay it will stick out like a sore thumb once all the coloured panels have been put on, as displayed earlier in this thread. At least the Leiper facade is round at the side and so won't be visually affected.

The Computer generated image is not that accurate in terms of colours.

The colours will actually be Terracotta Tiles, Charcoal Grey Granite and Cream Panels. The dead panels on the windows can already been seen and are actually are off white instead of blue.

I actually think its starting to look okay, i had my doubts. It is a big building, its the kind of building you need to stand back from a bit.

Saying that i think Architects are like sheep these days, remember a few years ago after "Homes for the Future", just about every new housing development was getting the White Powerwall Render, Cedar Lining Boards (unvarnished of course), Glass Bricks and Zinc Roofs treatments.

The trend these days are for those Terracotta clip on tiles. Think Jury's Hotel on Clyde Street and you'll get the picture.

FOUNTAIN OPPOSITE VERDE BUILDING IN TEMPLETON STREET

In fairness to Glasgow City Council, sometimes they get it right. I wonder when they will take down the Ready Fence panels that have been around the fountain for the last year or so.

Anybody know where this fountain was sited before? I seem to remember seeing it before when it would have been covered in thick gloss paint somewhere.

This tells you all about this fountain although the information obviously dates back to before it was restored. It does seem however that it has been there since it was erected and hasn't come from somewhere else.

I meant to say also that since the design came from a pattern book there have probably been - and maybe still are - similar fountains dotted about Glasgow and this is possibly where the sense of deja vu comes from.

The fountain actually used to stand in Crossmyloof... lust a minutes walk from my flat. It was sited on a small island at the intersection of Pollokshaws Rd and Landgside Ave, between the Corona bar and langside halls. I'm not sure when it was moved tho.

Thanks for the info Viceroy. The fountain has moved. If you look at the photo's in the the Glasgow sculpture website, it shows it on the West side of the Templeton Building, probably somewhere near where the Doulton Terracotta Fountain is now sited near the People's Palace.

The photo i took and posted earlier shows it located on the East side of the Templeton Business Centre in Templeton Street.

However, i actually thought i saw the fountain somehere else altogether, but it was probably in a book or something.

Posted the bit above before reading Crusty's post. Pity Glasgow could'nt have moved some of it's now demolished listed buildings over the years in the same way it did with it's fountains.

Well, the afore-mentioned Langside Halls originally stood on Queen St, but was moved to Shawlands (then Crossmyloof) at the corner of Queens Park nigh on a century ago. It is a pity it's not done more though, its such a waste, so unsustainable
