Cumbernauld's been open for a few years now.

Plastic bottles vastly outnumber glass, but take more energy to produce. This is because they are one-time only, while the glass make multiple trips in their lifetime (afraid I forget the trip number now, think it was 6 or 14  ).

The can is recommended if you want the product sparkling as designed to be consumed, as both the glass and the plastic bottles lose gas during storage, so what you get from them is considered to be flat in comparison.

We can only get the plastic bottled kind down here - which is crap, but drinkable. Lidle's sell it for 99p a bottle! Have to say the glass bottles do have a better taste, but we have had the odd bottle with a chip/broken top (causing injury to the casual swigger!).

And what were they thinking when they created DIET Irn Bru - must've been April 1st! 8O :)

I just read the label

Robin Barr's a canny man... doesn't pay just to ship water, so only the syrup is exported to the bottling plants

Evil, nasty Irn-Bru attracts criticism with advert:

...the light-heated pastiche has been criticised for encouraging Scottish youngsters (many with major dental problems caused by sweet drinks) to consume more of a product which contains 215 calories and 52.5 grammes of flavoured, coloured, carbonated water. Some of the ingredients are claimed to increase hyperactivity in children. There is an apocryphal story that when Irn-Bru was sent to a laboratory for analysis, the report came back saying "This horse is not fit for work." Barr Soft Drinks say the advert is aimed at the 16+ age group and will be shown on TV mainly after 9.45pm.

This criticism is shite, I've never drunk fizzy juice ever, apart from Fanta when I was about 14 and now lemonade. The Coca Cola adverts when I was wee never encouraged me to drink it! Kids will drink what they want to drink, adverts aren't going to change much.
