Irn Bru is available in Brussels, but you have to seek it out. Sales must've rocketed while I was there! ::):

I was just wondering if anyone here had a photo of the Irn Bru ad that was spoke about earlier on the roof in Union Street from the 1960s to 70s I think with the wee guy and the barrow?

Too bad 'Irn Bru' outsells any other brand of soft drink
in only one place in the whole world. Yup! Scotland.....
My heart bleeds for the global multi-national Cola Co. that
just can't quite cut it with us free thinking Scots.

There's a lot to be said about buying home produce etc.
Ok! the stuff we drink might be perhaps bottled in Manchester,
but Barr's have kept the identity without selling out.....err!
Yet!!.

i seem to remember a news report from a few years ago, saying that irn bru was introduced in moscow some years ago and was more popular than coca cola . also does,nt barr,s now have a factory there ? or am i imagining things again ?

Thanks Fos but I'm sure there was one before that it was neon lighting with the wee guy in orange (I think) and the barrow was red neon.

It wasn't a guy, it was a female gollywog called Baa Bru or sumthing.

Not sure if it outsells Coke, but Barrs starting selling Irn Bru in Russia in 1994, see page 12 of this http://www.agbarr.co.uk/agbarr/agb_invest.nsf/pdf/AF0CAB4DB8226980802569AB005E0CAD/$FILE/AG_Barr_Info_Pack.pdf for details.

I'd be gutted the plastic bottle Irn Bru is horrible compared to glass bottle Irn Bru! Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this?

Are they not opening a bottling plant in Cumbernauld?

Should make a big improvement to the plastic/canned varieties
