What about rebuilding the old Tourist Information Booth,I think it was used for TB X-Rays after the war.I bet tourist information in Glasgow in the 60's was a bit sketchy!"Well yes the underground is going to be shut for 5 years but if you take a bus up west there is the kelvingrove art gallery."

The GPO in George Square was the best PO to do business in - a virtual postal supermarket. A great place that is sadly missed in the city and also a humdinger of a building, well designed masterpiece second only to the house of madness (across the road) in class. Pity it looks across the sqaure at the dreadful low rise yellow thing.

That Ernst & Young building totally destrys the look of the square really.

I'd quite like to have a picnic in George Square. You know with rugs and hampers.... and stuff.

If an outdoor cafe or market stalls or mainland European type city square was proposed for the Square, why not remove traffic from around it? The city centre road system is mad anyway, so what would a few more streets matter? There is something like it in Dundee where they took away the traffic.

George Square needs to learn lessons from Europe

WITH the long-running saga of Glasgow's GPO now nearing a resolution, questions are being asked about the future of George Square.

"Public realm is vitally important to Glasgow and can be a catalyst in encouraging even more retail, hotel and restaurant companies coming to the city."

Oh, wonderful...more retail and hotels.....just what we need!
