I've got to agree that a small spot of nature is worth a billion tons of red asphalt. People need trees and grass.

As to Glasgow Cleansing I know of at least one occasion when North Lanarkshire happily cleaned their way right inside the City Boundary due to lack of geographic knowledge on the part of the individuals concerned and complete failure to notice the signs. It was a minor incursion admittedly and all NL forces withdrew discretely and speedily when aware of the cross-border error, before an 'incident' could occur.

That always happens to the grit lorries out here in the sticks. It's almost as bad as our bus drivers, once the driver asked me to stand next to the cab and show him the route. Still charged full fare you know

No poles oot here but there is an alarming number of female drivers. It all went downhill when Bluebird buses went to the wall.

Evening Times

Walk of Fame call for city

GLASGOW's George Square could become a Scots version of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

Football heroes James McFadden and Sir Alex Ferguson, singers Lulu and Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri could be among those honoured with a thistle, rather than a Tinseltown star.

SNP councillor Patricia Duffy is putting forward the idea the city should create the enduring memorial in tribute to great Scots from all walks of life.

They would be from both past and present and be chosen by the public.

Prior to this report being issued by the Evening Times I had arranged a meeting with Steve Inch the Director for Development & Regeneration to discuss memorials and plaques. This suggestion has already been worked on at a senior level within the Council with Bridget McConnell, Chief Executive for Culture and Sport Glasgow exploring the idea of a heritage trail and a cultural trail with plaques to not famous people with a Glasgow connection. My involvement is through work undertaken as part of a Hidden Glasgow Project "Hidden War Memorials". Steve Inch is keen that these memorials are included as part of this project.

So Hidden Glasgow has also played a part in this initiative.

If you put a plaque up to this arch capitalist expect a visit from the Beagle Boys.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

McDuck !! A Glesga resident ?

Postby Mori » Tue Oct 02, 2007 4:44 pm

Beep

Glasgow claims McDuck as its own

A Disney cartoon character has been honoured as one of Glasgow's most famous residents.
The city council has included Scrooge McDuck alongside Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Sir Alex Ferguson on a list of Glasgow's great and good.
