That's a K3. Made from concrete that wasn't painted, apart from the door, which was the usual painted red iron. Rarer than unicorn droppings, there are apparently only two in existance, one's in a museum and I think the other might be in London Zoo.
Too few hours in the day.

Found this one in Dumbarton on the way to Keil School. Appeared to be in the grounds of a house

It's in good nick, that one. Not how they've painted the crown on the top in gold?

East Fortune, yeah?

The one in the driveway is on Loch road

Was it replaced by a shiny new one?

Or are phone boxes just being phased out completely now?

I think they are getting rid of a lot of phone boxes, as the growth of mobiles kind of makes them redundant.

Anyone know where i can pick one up cheap ( a proper red one that is) - would make a cracking greenhouse I reckon!

BTW- would I be right in thinking that the red phone boxes were made at the Lion Foundary in Kirkintilloch, which closed around the time that they were phased out?

Buy, yes. Cheap, no. you're talking at least a couple of grand.

Do a Google for "red phone boxes for sale" and you might find someone cheaper.

Failing that, try and nick one. Go on, they're only made of cast iron......

Modern-ish style phonebox's being made at the Lion Foundry* in Kirkintilloch circa 1971.

I personaly prefer the classic style of box!

*The foundry also made other types of street furniture eg: location boxes for the GPO etc.

Those were awful boxes. They sealed in the atmosphere, if you know what I mean
