This report is more of a "Whitewash" I think?

I also posted this in the Carbuncles 2005 thread but in case anyone missed it there I managed to get a nomination for the loss of the Elgin Place Congregational Church accepted onto the shortlist for this year's 'Carbuncle' Pock Mark award. Can I encourage as many people as possible to vote so that we can send a message to the council that this sort of demolition in Glasgow is no longer acceptable! The website address is:

Cheers

Elgin Place Congregational Church (latterly The Shack)

Postby triggerhappy » Wed Apr 02, 2008 1:32 pm

Also known as Cardinal Follies/The Temple/The Shack and various others.

I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the interior of this building before it was turned into a nightclub? I can only find one online, and sadly I no longer have access to SCRAN.

Cheers.

There's one on the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland site. I guess it's probably the one you've found... If not, it's well worth signing up there to search their various databases- it's free too! Can't post the large picture here as it's under copyright but click on the thumbnail below:

They've got other internal images too but they're not yet digitised. You can apparently request images to be uploaded but it can take up to 10 weeks for this to happen:

Thanks Red_Kola, that was the one I had found.

I had seen this thread, but figured what I was looking for wasn't that relevant as it's nothing to do with the destruction and would get lost in the discussion about the site :(

I think they were hoping that the folks on the planning comittee had bad eye-sight and wouldn't notice the 6 floors above the existing street's datum-line. If this gets the go ahead its a f#cking travesty.
