That book Ken - did you buy it recently from Caledonia Books?

Round the corner there is a lamppost the same shape but without the coat of arms but it does have a foundry plate;

Looks so similar I recon they were made by the same people.

A very similar lamp post collar showing the Corporation of the City of Glasgow Coat of Arms from Victoria Park Street in Scotstoun. In need of a bit of tlc. Or shifting to the rust thread :evil:

Sorry for the delay Ken , from memory there was a copy in Caledonia Books fairly recently. I questioned the guy working the till about their Glasgow section and he said that they had a fairly fast turnover of stock. Worth visiting as often as you can - I have bought a couple of gems there in the past year.

Don't you find them a tad pricey for a second hand bookshop?

Better no upset the locals but Victoria Park Street is in Whiteinch...

I don't think there's been a photo of this before, but it's been mentioned once or twice - a Glasgow coat of arms in Edinburgh:

(It's at the western side of the Grassmarket, above what was apparently a branch of the Glasgow Savings Bank, with an Edinburgh coat of arms further along the building to even things up...)

Ach well. Treat it as photographic proof that it's, uh, still there :(

What is it with this forum? Folk can't wait to tell you that they've done it "photos annol" yonks ago.

So what if you did!!?? Would you like a hat, a balloon or a chocolate watch?

Here's an unfortunate example of something I happened to repeat - athough I've still to see the proof.

Wonder why you bother eh?
