...what are the consequences if say the police were you catch you in rail tunnels or in old abandoned buildings? Or do you get prior permission? How likely are you to get caught and how bad can it be?

Old Buildings - they'd probably do you for tresspassing, but maybe you
could talk your way out of it, claiming you were doing research for a
website...

Rail tunnels - if they're active tunnels, you'll definately get your arse felt -
at least a £200 fine. As for old tunnels, since they're abandoned, I'm not
sure what the script would be. :?

Scottish law.

Postby turbozutek » Mon Feb 09, 2004 7:47 pm

Hi !

There is NO trespass law in Scotland for old buildings / parks / tunnels.

Except - railway ! Trespass on the railway is a crime.

The worst you could get for being in an old building is 'breaking and entering' which is very serious, but I'm sure you and your friends witnessed the door was already open!

The watchword is discretion coupled with common sense. There are places to go & There Are Places To Go!!.

Even sites with security guards on watch shouldn't put you off. I've found that by actually having a word with the bloke on duty goes a long way to getting a wee peek at what takes your fancy. They can usually spot a ner'do well from someone with a genuine interest.

Well with a lot of expensive camera gear and tripod they usually ask if your from the press. Failling that after much diplomacy I'm not averse to a small transaction taking place 8) These guys are doing long shifts for shit pay so give them a little respect and a handy sized portrait of the Queen in a nice shade of brown usualy does the trick. Remember the more in your party of sightseer's the more the money goes up. Expect to pay £20 for four. Hope this helps you avoid a criminal record.
