Thatched cottages

Does anyone remember the two thatched cottages on the south side of Edinburgh Road east of Carntyne? My recollection is that they were still there in the early 50s.
This always struck me as quite out of context with Glasgow's building types and weather.

There was a thatched pub in the Yoker area - located adjacent to the present day Lovat public house.
It was known as Colin Robb's Inn after the proprietor, it lay derelict and was destroyed during the first night of the Clydebank blitz

Very interesting Brian,
I was beginning to think that my memory was giving me problems not unusual at my age!
The photos do reveal something which may require some additional information,-the thickness of the thatch is not of the same as the traditional ones of the south and the ridge is not heavily loaded with additional thickness- would this be because the Scottish thatchers used different materials, and/or techniques?
