I didn't think the Glasgow Royal Lunatic Asylum was much of a secret? It was the fourth Scottish asylum, and it moved to its current site at Gartnavel in 1843. The old asylum then became the City Poorhouse.

From an architectural point, it was probably one of the biggest losses in Glasgow. It was the first asylum to be be built on the 'radial' (or panopticon) design. I think there were a couple of hospitals in England which utilised the design, and it was adapted for another two later Scottish asylums (Royal Crichton and Murray Royal), but it really gained popularity in Ireland where there are half a dozen examples still standing.
The Mitchell holds a book about the Lock Hospital, although its more like a bound manuscript, and I think the Magdalene Laundry has been discussed here a few times before.
