Posted the side view of this a while ago but the front sign was exposed as the chemist moved across the road.

Bert Ralston, teh owner of the shop, has died and there's a wee notice on the outside of the shop thanking customers for their support. Sign is gone now too. RIP Bert.

Aye Mr Horn, a treasure trove of sarcastic remarks 'Cathcart road' jokes and 'error picture not found' messages. What a glorious modern age we live in

That's a rather negative point of view, Sammy, not like you at all.

I agree. I'm confident the internet will be around long enough for our 'now' photos to be the next generation's - or the generation after that's - 'then' photos.

I can't imagine that'll be all HG will be remembered for but, if that's the case, it'll still be a good shift's work.
I hear the people sing.

Mr Horn and Mr Egg Man You are quite right that if we all dissapeared now the HG archive would be a fantastic resource whith which to refer.

BTW the pistons and Components sigh has gone (For good?)

Former post office on Rhannan Road, Cathcart has been revealed - frontage was previously covered up by signage for a firm of builders. It's still got the sign advising the latest posting times to Manchester, Birmingham etc. (sorry about the quality of the photos - taken on my iPhone on the way to work this morning):

You can just make out the 'Cathcart' sign at the top but 'Post Office' hasn't come up on the photo. Don't know when this closed - perhaps someone on here can help?

Magic. I can remember being dragged down to that post office as a youngster. Perhaps 1972 or a bit later?
