This was a lovely traditional toy shop called The Walrus and the Carpenter which I used to go in to with my friend after our lectures at the Dental School in 1977-78. It specialised in good quality wooden toys and games, soft plush cuddly animals, collectors dolls and all kinds of interesting pocket money/stocking filler items for children. (My friend and I were obviously still big kids at heart and went in to say hello to a particularly cute plush white seal pup with huge dark eyes that each of us just longed to give a home to - but sadly could never afford it on our student grants!).
I was reminiscing about it (for the first time in years) just the other day and, when I saw this photo by chance whilst visiting HG for the first time, just had to register and put in my tuppenceworth.
Thanks for the memory!
