The last we saw him at Petershill was when he organised a match for some showmen at the old Petershill Park around/over 10 years ago.

Johnny Pullar isn't originally from a showman's family. He is a flattie who married in to the business.

another kirkcaldy links market has passed.the hustle and bustle of the season is in full swing.a few surprises at kirkcaldy this year.a ride called 'air' made a welcome return. owned by welsh showman abie danter jnr had travelled up from england a few days previous to the fair along with his other popular ride the wild mouse rollercoaster.air is transported on more than one truck and cost over a million pounds to buy.it is a great sight seeing all the trucks for this ride parked up.there are still a lot of enterprising showmen out there waiting to snap up the latest rides on offer from manufacturers like ADESKO,NOTTINGHAM U.K, HUSS,KMG,SAFECO etc etc.one street in kirkcaldy lined up with trucks moving into position ready for the build up.a line is marked up and down the street and everything is set up so as not to cross over that line or the attraction has to be pulled down and moved if it stands over the line.some attractions built up with milimeters to spare either side of the attraction standing next to it.

another new ride attending kirkcaldy for the first time was reeves leisures atmosfear which was almost ready for last years fair but missed it due to the manufacturing taking longer than expected.showmen see the links market as a good place to debut brand new rides as most rides are ordered just before the back end run finishes so in readiness for the start of the next season.

a treasure trove of fairground memorobilia exists in glasgow itself.showman melvyn thomas has shed upon shed full of history in his winter yard. everything bought and beautifully restored by himself be it an old one arm bandit, bingo stall or a showmans caravan with acompanying transport melvyn has it all.it really is a sight to see.

Regarding the Pullar family, they are a very hard working family travelling from the top of Scotland to hull and open most of the year with little downtime.

Yes the pullars open up north the furthest north being inverness and nairn they do a few fairs in england prior to hull and after hull.a very nice selection of attractions owned by the pullar familly.john pullar was just an ordinary bloke who had a career in football and later married into the fairground community.hard work has certainly paid off for them as it shows in their immaculate equipment.

There's an interesting article on the BBC website about this way of life as well as a BBC Scotland
documentary showing tomorrow night. Might be worth a watch.
