City Centre Homelessness

Postby Pointyears » Sun Apr 03, 2011 9:44 pm

I'm a Star Wars fan and was pretty angered by this old but rather pompous thread on the star wars fan site:

http://boards.theforce.net/scotland/b10 ... 6675/p1/?8

After reading it through it hit me that I suppose there are a lot of chancers mixed in with the deserving cases in the city centre.

Unfortunately, some of the situations on depicted in the thread are accurate.
"Listen, it's too big a world to be in competition with everyone. The only person who I have to be better than is myself. And in your case, that's enough."

From the Star Wars forum. it must be true. Panhandling has been prevalent in Glasgow for centuries but maybe that's a blink of an eye in star wars time.

Begging in actual fact is a job. Their job is to make other people feel good about themselves. It' is better to give than to receive unless you prefer the joy of cash.
Like many top paying jobs the best beggars don't pay taxes and are assisted by government grants and other business benefits.

The people who sell the Big Issue are not beggars but face difficulties in accessing and holding on to decent accommodation.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.
