I got arrested for that - on street parking around Cathedral Street is a nightmare and heavily controlled, there are a couple of multi stories (Buchanan Galleries / Concert Hall / Geroge Street) all of which are a short walk from the Met.

I suggest taking the McGills bus from Greenock straight into Buchanan St Bus Station and walk to the college if that is an option

Get the train , then the connecting bus to Queen Street and walk up the hill to the college.

If you have to come by car take Exit 22 towards east Kilbride, Take right turn under the M8 take left turn and park at Shields Road Subway. Buy a park and ride Ticket at the station, take subway to Buchanan Street walk up hill to Parliamentary road turn right and walk to Metropolitan college. That'll cost you £5.

Seven hours parking at Buchanan Galleries is £12.

and leave Greenock early

Get the train. Bringing a car into the city centre is stupid, unnecessary, expensive and anti-social. The Met is just a few metres away from train and bus stations.
