I think this is the same yard that I worked in when shooting a scene for the Channel 4 film "Orphans" back in the mid 90's starring Dougie Henshell (if thats his name, he also starred in a series as a psychiatrist who was mad himself).
I think it was closed then.

What a difference a year makes down at the Garvel Dock in Renfrew.

The main part of the site has been leveled and has been filled in and now awaits redevelopment.

Nothing left apart from rubble.

Pretty cool, I'm working in an engineering firm up in Inverurie at the mo', however the closure a couple of years ago of John Brown's(Clydebank) ended up with alot of machinery being sold off. My boss purchased alot of the old equipment at an auction that was held there, couple of milling machines and a huge flat cast bed for giving a horizontal surface. It's funny, he said that when he was there, that newspapers and things from the day the place shut were still there, so were some lunchboxes with crisps and rotten sandwiches too. As if the place just stood still when all those people lost their jobs, all that talent and skill going to waste....just a passing thought

Brownfield gives way to to suburban development:
A welcome addition of greenspace with landscaped parkland and water features. Creates a buffer zone and breathing space between adjacent developments.

Should look good once the tree's mature and screen off the BEA shipyard.

Still a long way to go and a lot of space to be filled yet!
