Yes , but they've now moved to Gordon Street.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

At the left of your photo was the former Highlanders Institute, latterly partially used as the Berkeley Casino. Owned by the same bloke that had the County Bingo halls.

I think he transferred that license to Tiffany's in Sauchiehall Street and opened up the Gala Casino. (Citation Required)

Thanks guys. I seem to remember it being derelict and rather forlorn looking - hence it piquing my interest. I have distinct memories of motifs above the entrance such as playing cards, etc.

It was. I worked there for a year, not long before it closed, as a temporary measure between careers.

The roof windaes got cleaned in the 70s. - or was the sun just brighter? Bring back platforms! :D

My mother worked in the newstand in Central station (in the 1800's 8O - Joke) she once sold a Daily Record to Laurel and Hardy! I know because she's told me a million times!

I think people bought red luggage to spot it on the carousel at airports. Now that everyone has them...
