There were no record shop chains in Scotland in the 1960s so every record shop was an independent.

Sorry if this has been covered already but I can remember two record shops at Kelvinbridge in the early 70s, just past Otago Street, one roughly where the 24 hr supermarket is now and the other just across the road.
The name of one of them I think was Lawrence & Lang, and they also sold TVs & radios too.

The reason I remember them was it was there that I bought my first ever record.
Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep, by Middle of the Road if you really want to know....I would have been about six at the time.

I suppose the only place to buy records in the 50's/60's would have been music shops like Biggars or music departments in the large stores?

No the Govan Wireless shop sold them. Gloria's was going in the sixties, High Street Tops, Bernard Electrical. Have another read of this thread and check out the 78 covers I uploaded.

We're talking either over-the-hill retired sportsman or promising young MP in either case.

Oh, yes.

Again and again. And again. And almost certainly again. And probably again, too.

Read the whole thread. And then have a search on the site for Listen.

Couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread. Just thought I'd throw my tuppence in.
