take a look at http://www.skyscrapercity.com for new projects in Glasgow (and the rest of the planet for that matter!). The talest structures in Glasgow are the Blue and White Vale flats in Parkhead.

Please don't allow any of tese buildings to suffer. Do you not think 20 years down the line, that these structures will look shit. The St. Enoch Centre was put down as great architecture and engineering. Look at it now, glass all dirty, eyesore!. The building it replaced, the train station, was so much nicer and grand. Why didn't they keep it? I'm not to sure about these 'new' proposals? Edinburgh and Aberdeen have kept majority of their tenements and victorian theme, while Glasgow has ripped most of it down.

I agree that the loss of the St Enochs hotel, countless churches, tenements etc etc have been absolutely cataclysmic for Glasgow. But whats done is done, don't you think its time to move on?

As for the quality of the new architecture, I believe it stands up well. Glasgow is fortunate to have a wealth of home grown architectural talent, Cooper Cromar, Murray and Dunlop, Page and Park etc, all are producing fine buildings.

Not all of it is great by any means though, the new Jury's Inn is horrid as is the Buchanan Galleries car park, but you shouldn't tar all new buildings with the same brush. The new Radisson SAS on Argyle street is an absolutely superb building and more is yet to come, Elphinstone place, Aurora, Sentinel etc all promise to be spectacular.

Take a walk along the Broomielaw and tell me things haven't improved.

The Pinnacle and Eagle House's contribution to the streetscape.

And another thing, all these projects are either replacing Sixties/seventies disasters or are going up on brownfield sites, something we should all be encouraging.

The Victorian stuff will remain untouched.
