The last of the old breed in those pics Ken. To be found elsewhere in Engineering works etc. I will have to keep my eye out for that book.

Indeed, here's a few more pics. (I suppose these should be in the Subway thread).

Sorry to come crashing into the thread, but I ended up here cos I searched for Carntyne, and I noticed there was discussion about the old shelter on the Edinburgh Road next to what was Global video (yes, I know... twas ages ago!)

But I thought I'd do the neighbourly thing and ask, did you get to the bottom of what it was there for? I grew up here (that was my bus stop) and had always been led to believe it was merely a bus stop. But if you're still curious, I can corner an old granny this weekend, and find out. I know a few that have lived on Carntyne Square for donkey's years, and would probably get a good answer.

Just thought I'd ask. The photos on here are fab!

Get on board for big bus bonanza

The Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust has about 100 buses and, for good measure, a number of lorries, and a 1956 fire engine.
All have a connection with Scotland – and, in many cases, Glasgow. It is a transport enthusiast’s dream.
There are Glasgow Corporation buses from the 1930s-60s, and numerous examples of buses made at the Albion works in Scotstoun.
There is even a 70-year-old bus the Trust’s Dr Alistair Ramsay brought from Malta several years ago. It has been painted and carefully restored and could almost pass for new.
On Sunday all the buses will be on show to the public when the Trust again flings open the doors of the Bridgeton Bus Garage

Heads up; the latest (January 2012) edition of Classic Bus magazine has a six page spread by a driver who worked in Kelvin Buses in the mid 1980's. Some interesting photographs.

This isn't a publication I would buy but was browsing through it whilst killing time in Central Station's WH Smith's today.

I usually put Classic Bus inside a porn mag, it attracts less attention.
