On another wander up and down the A82 and A85, found this wee gem of a church hidden down a wee road of the a85 at Loch Awe

Interesting!
All sorts of in for on it here, here and here (includes video).

Check out the drainpipes!

What a fantastic little building! I've been up to Loch Awe quite a few times in the past but never spotted that gem. Will have to pay it a visit soon. Thanks for the posts and pics.

Tobester, is it safe to walk here along the A85 from Loch Awe station?

Looking at my copy of Headley and Meulenkamp's FOLLIES, GROTTOES AND GARDEN BUILDINGS I see that St Conan's is in there, though for once their photo of the building fails to do it justice (much better pics posted here by Tobester).

Its says that parts of the fabric of the building, in true folly tradion, have been salvaged from other buildings including a screen from Eaton public school and a bell from Skerryvore Lighthouse.

"There is also a story that a friend of Campbell's deemed the design of the proposed apse dangerous. Campbell built a scale model and drove a steam roller over it. Not a scratch on the model."

I would say so CM, where theres no pavement so long as you follow the usual rule of walking towards the traffic flow.

Thanks for tyhe comment re the pics Toby, much appreciated

I had a wander round this amazing church on Thursday evening. It was still open at 7pm, and no one about apart from a man working at the far side of the church grounds.
