You’ll be a braver man than me if you climb into any of those holes though! :)

Really? I quite fancy it actually - I can't go back to work for another couple of months yet, and all the "free" time is driving me nuts!

Pretty sure someone hung themself in those caves in the 1930's. All they found was a hanging skeleton pointing towards the deeper parts of the cave. Bit sad really!!

As far as I know the town of Cumbernauld has no boundaries now. In the past as a designated new town and burgh it did but now being part of the entity called North Lanarakshire it would seem to have no marked borders on any modern map.
I understand that NLC refer to the new town [and Kilsyth] as 'the Northern Area'.

This thread is simply about rambles around the town and taking photos of the surviving industrial heritage that is still to be found and which might ignite some interest of HG'rs who have an affinity with the area.

The thread has been renamed Cumbernauld Mines due to the mines being pretty darn close to Cumbernauld but not quite in it, anything else to do with the architecture/Culture (!!!)/Industry of Cumbernauld should be placed in Hidden Cumbernauld thread. If in doubt, pm a mod.
