Leeds has surprisingly lots of intersting buildings and is well worth a visit
All pictures from visit 18-06-08

Leeds has lots of restored Victorian Markets - very photogenic but infuriating as you can never 1) work out what to photograph or 2) get far enough away to photograph the whole thing..... Some pics are stitched as a result

What a place visit if you can, it's also an example of how modern 'n' funkey can mesh with old and original to quite stunning effect.

Good pics Mrsam.
I've spent a couple of days recently in Leeds for work, and managed a couple of quick walks around the city centre. Smashing victorian architecture and some dubious riverside developments (sound familiar?).

Hey rabmania, Yep leads and Glasgow share many similarities 8) Both worth a second look.

BTW if you can find the Adelphie pub/bar in leeds, its got good intersting architechture (It features in a pub interiors book by Camera the beer people) but ordinary beer (nothing to shout about)

Could you post that again? i didn't quite catch your drift the first time nor the second time you posted your one line of typography accompanied by the same four photographs that can easily be found in the post that started the topic.

I must point out that some people know how to use google to more productive ends than others. It's a combination of science and guesswork. Of course it lacks the dexterity of someone who hits the submit button twice because he thought he'd fucked up the first time of pressing.

Is the indoor market the County Arcade? That was designed by Frank Matcham, the theatre architect, in his usual exuberant style.

The building in the centre of the picture is Leeds Bridge House, built about 1880 as a Temperance Hotel by John James Cousins, a Leeds banker. The hotel closed in 1900, and since then it has had a variety of uses. It was bought by Leeds City Council in 1960, and scheduled for demolition, but was reprieved and refurbished as offices in 1981. The strange shape of the building reflects the restricted space available on the site.
