Abandonment issues:

Shrubhill tram depot, or a wee bit of what's left of it. Yes, trams. Bloody trams:

I'll figure out how to get in at some point:

Moving swiftly on (unlike some public transport schemes we could mention), some old cranes left at one of the few working parts of Leith Docks you can get near these days. Now gracing a casino car park:

Looking over past the cranes, some actually not at all abandoned industrial stuff, all lit up in the low winter sun:

That is good.

This one is from the RCAHMS Flickr stream: The Mather family from 16 Leamington Terrace in Edinburgh, Scotland on an unidentified rollercoaster.

Poirot and friends! That's a cracker - they look so happy.

The Crags one's a belter too. Spot the old Dumbiedykes closest to the camera. Also, I understand that the Clean Air Act was of course A Good Thing, but dammit, city photos have never been quite as atmospheric since.

A couple of Leith murals. According to Mr Edinphoto the second one was done in 1986 by Street Artworks, being two fellas Tim Chalk and Paul Grime, being a painted version of the stories from a community history project of the previous year.

1986 was a better year for murals than anytime soon.

This is one of the latest releases from RCAHMS; count the trams, I got twelve more than the current view :|

What a loss that railway station was.

That thing in the middle of the junction at the foot of Lothian Road? It was a fountain, and here's what's left of it:

Unrelated, here's some photos of the Edinburgh Riviera:

(AKA the bit behind the Seafield sewage works.)

Long way for a short cut:

I fart in your general direction:

Gas (or something or other):

Haud on a minute:

Cracking sea defenses:

Stop and relax a while:

Finally (honest), a clear indication that the works doesn't welcome casual visitors:

The NLS had kept that one quiet. There's a late 19th century Glasgow one on that list too, by the way. Cheers, HH :D

:) It's actually potentially quite nice. If you ignore most of what's there and pretend you're someplace else entirely. And change the climate.

Speaking of which: haar, Jim lad! It's been foggy - of the special east coast kind that moves at twenty miles an hour and freezes exposed skin in no time.

Starting at a glamorous corner between Waverley and the Calton Hill that I keep trying to photograph for some reason, though they almost always get deleted right away:

Heading up Jacob's Ladder, beside this leftover of the old jail:

And up to the groovy bit. Complete with a sprinkling of slightly bewildered tourists, seeming unsure whether they were sad to not be seeing any views whatsoever, or pleased to be in such an odd setting:
Image

Good weather for skulking:
Image

But also for getting the hell off that freezing hill, crossing the North Bridge and finding a warm pub:

Cheers!
