Places to Eat/Drink when out and about

Postby My Kitten » Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:26 pm

It's often struck me whilst out and about that its a bit hit n miss when picking a suitable luncheon venue.

Suggestions for places to visit for a good meal/refreshment.

I'll start off with the Red Lion in Culross very nice meal there and reasonably priced. Basic pub grub, nothing fancy but it did the job. Quick service too.

Good thread!

The Allan Water cafe in Bridge of Allan near Stirling does lovely ice cream - well worth stopping off at on any trip!

The BofA Cafe also does fab fish and chips.

The Crown in Thornhill does fantastic bar suppers and lunches. There is a hidden car park round the back.

Wheatsheaf at Symington is good

I like the Ye may gang faur and fare waur at Stracathro when heading north, but more for sentimental reasons. Much nicer wee place is a tea room in a garden centre just off the main road past Forfar at the Ladenford/Lour turn off.

And of course bar lunch at the Drovers Inn when heading north on the west side.....

'The Classroom' in Nairn brings the 21st Century to a great wee town in the shape of a mid-price-range bistro. Fairly adventurous menu and wide range of "wee refreshments"

"Frankies" in Bread Street, Edinburgh is an Italian restaurant which presents wonderful food without a pizza in sight and barely a mention of pasta. Fairly pricey but wonderful food.

Firstly "The Drovers" Just for the fact its a class place to visit.

Then "The Bishopton Inn" We usually go there for lunch and a pint on a Sunday, Great food then home for a sleep on the couch infront of the box.
