Derelict Mills in Johnstone

Fantastic Pics HollowHorn. I've long been fascinated by this forgotten part of Johnstone. There are some great pics on SCRAN of the complex in its heyday.

If you follow the river a little way it is possible to make out the approach to the old Johnstone North Goods station which served the Finlayson Bousfield mills.

Its a shame that all these mills are gone now to supposedly make way for a big Safeway (that'll make 3 in Johnstone) and new luxury flats except for Patons mill which is meant to be getting renovated into flats (which should be nice)

The old safeway was sold off to somerfield as it didnt fit into auld man morrisons criteria for conversion stores (too small),

I've been down to the site a number of times to see what's happening, and they are now at the stage of removing the railway embankment. I managed to get some pics of North Johnstone station during this, parts of the station were still intact when it was uncovered again, but has now been demolished along with a chunk of the embankment. The pics are still on my camera, but when I get a chance I'll upload them to my PC and then to a photo site.....

I've noticed over the past few days theres a wall in the embankment and I only assumed that it was part of the old bridge that used to go over the road there.... I remember the bridge but dont remember when it was pulled, It was before the cycle path anyhoo so in the region of 20 years ago???

I was brought-up in Johnstone so appreciate these pics so much. Do you remember the UXB on Buchanan Street in the early 80s. God bless the Luftwaffe!

A few pics from 2005 before the demolition.

I'm not as brave as Hollow Horn - I stayed outside the Heras fencing. Definitely didn't venture down to the riverside at the carpark. The jakeys were shouting and throwing imaginary frisbees at the sun.

Seen as this has been brought up again I thought I should share my wee wander round Patons Mill

I came across this when I was searching info on Patons. I'm fascinated by that building but earlier when I was inside, I felt pretty jumpy and basically terrified. Maybe paranoia. I've heard that people have died in that building. Does anyone know if there's any truth to it? And has any one seen/heard/felt anything that wasn't there? Sorry to bring the subject up, but curiosity is difficult to avoid and my interest lies in the supernatural escense behind the building. Also, the wood work and general form of the building itself is bloody beautiful.
