Re: Building's within a building

Very interesting photographs, this could have beenthe remains of an old "Calander Works" - see this map http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maptiles/m100665_259491_665068.png There were quite a lot of older buildings in that lane, which was used as the goods inwards department for Goldbergs.

Re: Rebus

The older ones among us will remember another series from early 1970s. "The View from Daniel Pike" was made by BBC and starred Roddy McMillan as a hard nosed private investigator and debt collector called Daniel Pike, very similar type of character to Taggart. The previously mentioned Jame...

Re: Hidden Platforms

I have heard from a reliable source that the partial reopening of the North Platform as a terminal platform is being investigated.

Re: Suburban Train Stations

This is being dismissed as scaremongering to try and twist the SNPs arm for electrification of the route on other sites. The line cannot and will not be closed, as it carries the West Highland services, both passenger and freight, the only unique bit is the Anniesland branch.

Re: Old tunnels, missing tracks, disused stations etc

Obviously cant change the past, but cant help think how much better served Glasgow would have been if they kept the trams and the city union line . Even a smaller scale St Enoch station. Always found it strange you cannot get from Queen St to Central. Check out your railway history of Glasgow, the ...

Re: Parking at Scottish Hydro Arena Glasgow.

Park at the Science Centre and cross the bridge - £3 for a days parking compared with £6 at the SECC, and not a long walk. £3 for a SHAG must be good value in anyones book :)

Re: Hidden Platforms

The present Argyle Line after Partick heading towards Central Station actually mainly uses a single track freight tunnel constructed to bring in refuse to the corporation incinerator via the old Caledonian Railway system. The North British railway brought in refuse by rail via the other lines. The ...

Re: Hidden Platforms

Well, I was one of the lucky few that DID manage to go on the tour - and all thanks must go to the Network Rail staff for organising it, and nothing to the OD folk who managed to turn ticketing into a rammy, and even with a confirmed EventBrite booking, this didn't manage to filter through to Stati...

Re: One for the railway heads

When you have been married to a wife with a serious alcohol problem which saw her drink anything, including all my aftershave, the humour is tainted.

Re: One for the railway heads

Yes, I see a 92 there most days. Makes sense that its for the sleeper, though I thought they had the 92s in Caledonian livery for those trains? As an aside the signage for platform 7, must be the worst in Waverly Station and its also one of the worst to get to, distance wise, if you have any disabi...

Re: Model Railways and other Wee Worlds

The model shop in Bell Street was the famous "D&F Models", but the ladies who owned this retired last year and the shop passed into new ownership as Waddell's Models. I havn't been into the shop since it reopened, initial comments were not favourable but I understand that they have fou...
