Re: West Princes Street

8) Spending some time browsing over that building and the 'nooks and crannies' that made it such a strange building, I wonder if it wasn't a private school or some form of asylum when it was first built... Must be about 1850's in style so there is likely to be a very interesting history to it, remem...

Re: West Princes Street

8) I remember this building as the Glasgow HQ for the 207th Royal Artillery (TAVR), when it was taken over in the late 70's, I would have been amazed to have seen the plans as your photo only contains half the picture.... Just to the right of your photo was the vehicle entrance which led you through...

Re: Firefox upgrade

 Just one point to remember.... As long as your system software is up-to-date, installation should be no problem... If however, like me, and using an older PC...trying to install V.4 unsuccessfully results in a complete loss of ALL backed-up files and folders previously built-up through useage...

Re: St Enoch viaduct

8) I remember as a boy (16yo), in 1966 working for an ad agency and delivering some artwork to a location just to the extreme left of St Enoch's, within the arches, many of which were shops etc. These units however were limited height access and opened into vast, and I do mean VAST caverns full of R...

Re: Closure of the walkway between the Squiggly Bridge and Quay

After spending 'lots of dosh' to get an apartment that looks directly on to the Brown and Effluent Clyde, I can fully understand why local residents are complaining about the 'great unwashed' treading paths previously used for decades. I fully understand the need to 'shut-out the unacceptable side o...

Re: tommy sherridan

8O To be perfectly honest....there are so many lies being told before, during and after this trial that the only way to get a result might be to form 'tug-of-war teams', with Tommy and his liars on one rope, and the NOTW liars on the other end. and as each team is evenly matched......."take the...

Re: tommy sherridan

8) Too easy to get embroiled in the 'wheeling and dealing' that has went on before and during this trial... The one issue that to my mind has NEVER been explained to anyone's satisfaction, is this..... Police investigations that were carried out with such 'Vim and Vinegar' even before charges were m...

Re: tommy sherridan

:D Opinions aside..... I think it is creditable that HG has finally decided to open its posts for opinions, after all Ms Sheridan are our own 'Robin Hood' figures and there must be a vast sea of thought bubbling out there....! Can i also say that, the other 2 main Glasgow Sites (who shall remain nam...

Re: Dodgy Pubs!!

8O Well you don't have to worry too much about the Cavendish in Nitshill, passed bye this morning to see fire engines in attendance..... Always felt that 'young Mr King' would not leave such a goldmine empty too long..... So it seems, accidentally on purpose the insurance is about to get a battering...

Re: The Barras and its future

Can I advise the gent who wants to document an active market.....to forget the Barras....! The Barras has been 'basterdized' to such an extent that it no longer can be truly called 'a market'. Gone are the bargain clothing that established it as a place for the 'poor' to get cheap items. Gone are th...

Re: fishing in Glasgow Parks

8O just try and drop a line in and around Pollok Park.......Apart from the locals being up in arms, the Councillor's who live there would be very angry, and of course Pollok House that bastion of Glasgow culture.....they would claim it would 'lower the tone' of the area to have just 'anybody' fishin...
