Re: Your most pointless subject at school was.....?

If you didn't get a half decent Standard Grade, you were frozen out of doing the Higher, which in turn stopped you from aspiring to higher education. No point in wasting time with slow developers, who will just hold back the investment in the high flyers. I can vaguely understand the reasoning. The...

Re: Glasgow Blind Asylum

I've been in it a few times when over at GRI as a change from the 'in house' offerings. As an aside the Campsie in the QEB must be one of the most unwelcoming staff canteens ever. The décor is awful and I got barked at for the cheek of asking for a decaff coffee on Monday, when their equivalent at ...

Re: Robin Williams, Dead....

I'm sure he was very funny and that (although I ever took to his manic brand of humour myself) but the coverage has been disproportionate.

When was the last time anyone here mentioned Robin Williams in conversation? Or did you ever in your life?

Now Lauren Bacall, that's a different matter.

You want to have a go at Mood Indigo, guv. You definitely won't be able to tell us anything about the plot. :-)

I quite liked it, personally.

Re: Stirling Castle pub

Just back from a long sojourn in OZ ,so hi again all. Surprised to see the Stirling Castle on Old Dumbarton Rd now gone along with the Overflow opposite. Anyone know what happened to this once popular and busy pub. ? Unhelpful post, since I don't know, but I had rather wondered that myself. There w...

I'll get over it when we get the litter bin (which they removed because there were 'athletes' in the hotel opposite and someone might plant a nuclear bomb in it or something) outside my work back.

Pfah!

I believe one of our mods is personally acquainted with some in the folk in that edition. They sound quite fun to me.

I've always thought that was deliberate. I lived in Parkhead at the time when, decades after the closure of the line, they filled in the tunnels. It seemed odd at the time.

Re: Urban Park for underneath M74 Flyover

They obviously haven't seen all those artists' renderings from the 1960s, of the M8/GIRR when it was proposed, you know the one all those happy people walking on overbridges and underpasses with lots of green trees and shrubbery around and the utopian vision of everyone living in harmony with concr...

Re: The Glasgow Echo

Excellent. Thank you, Toby. Does somewhat remind me of this.

i was also rather liked the Sunday Correspondent, the only Sunday newspaper I've ever bought regularly. I'm sure there's no correspondence between my custom and bankruptcy. Well, probably not.

Re: Clyde The Thistle Petition

I doubt we've seen the last of him... I speak too soon. A Clyde has been stolen from Govan and the council have removed the rest of them as a precaution. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-28694261 Hah! Right enough, it isn't there anymore. The only surprise is that it wasn't me who...

We don't get too many folk naming themselves after Daily Mail editors on here. Now, if it were Peter Owen, you'd have a fan....
