Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

Everybody was a bit scared of the forest due to rumours of a "bad man" - nobody knew why he was bad. “ The Greenfaulds Man (or The Bad Man) Legend has it that a man of unkempt appearance and poor manners frequents the woods of Greenfaulds. He hides behind trees and jumps out scaring small...

Re: old roads in and around cumbernauld/ Castlecary

That's a shame. I was hoping there would be some remains.... I'm certainly no expert but I do believe there must be some remains of the Roman road running south from Castlecary. These remains are not always obvious to the amateur's eye. You provided a link to a page on Scotlands Places and the arch...

Re: old roads in and around cumbernauld/ Castlecary

do you know where the old weavers dam is in Cumbernauld community park? Where is the old abandoned glasgow road, is that the road which heads towards tesco/Balloch or is it across the A80 in the village. I've never heard of the old weavers dam. I think the Old Glasgow Road you speak of is the road ...

Re: old roads in and around cumbernauld/ Castlecary

However I think the main military way that went south, travelled through Bandominie farm and woods, skirted past fannyside Muir and ends; who knows . I'm not sure if you clicked on the link on my last post(?) When I did a little bit of research into this road a few years back (again, see link), the...

Re: Glasgow Aiport M8 sliproad

Just noticed tonight, the remains of a slip road from the M8 east bound, straight onto the main Airport roundabout. Does anyone know when it stopped being used? Am guessing when the A737 Johnstone bypass opened. Anyone know more???? Is it this? http://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=55.861826,-4.435253&s...

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

There was also something else nearby, looks natural but could've been used as a limekiln. http://s1084.photobucket.com/albums/j408/mjw252000/DSCF3309resize.jpg http://s1084.photobucket.com/albums/j408/mjw252000/DSCF3307resize.jpg I'm sure I read somewhere about an escape tunnel, which ran from Cast...

I did search the forum but couldn't see this mentioned (although if it has been then please delete this).

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

Thanks for posting these pics Ryan. I've not seen any of them before.

I'd no idea so much of the centre was uncovered. Must've been a draughty place in 1968.
