The Yen Teppenyaki (sp?) restaurant in the North Rotunda is an absolute must for a dining experience. Been a few times and it's hard to believe tha the first time I went there there was a running sewer and a dank, musty hell-hole of a tunnel.

Noticed that they're showing Love Thy Neighbour on TV on Trial tonight. It'll be intersting to contrast and compare how it looks now as opposed to the politically incorrect 70's.

Cool,
I could have bagged a few when I was up the hills yesterday if I'd known about the sport then.
The Slacks, Duncolm, Doughnot Hill and the two at Bowling.
Still, gives me another reason to go back up next week.

There's a bascule bridge at Portpatrick Road in Old Kilpatrick which is about to be opened as there are two boats coming through the locks at the Erskine Bridge right now. Unfortunately the batteries in my camera are needing charged. The bridgekeepers cottage is still there as is the one at the swin...

On an entirely selfish note as someone who uses the rat runs around the area in my 90 minute journey home from work I'm delighted. I'm also pleased that it brings to an end all the uncertainty that Rutherglen Glencairn FC have had visited upon them in recent years and hope they prosper in their new ...

Erskine Bridge

At the Old Kilpatrick end of the Erskine Bridge you used to be able to get access to the inside of the bridge. Just above Old Kilpatrick Station the box section part of the structure meets a concrete wall. Between the metal and the concrete there is a gap, easily accessed by climbing up on one of th...

Going back a few pages in this topic (I've been offline for a while!!) to answer a question (should probably be a different thread...if so I apologise) there is a door at the start of the Erskine Bridge. I'll post the details as another topic.

I used to deliver milk to the castle on my milk run in the mid-seventies, I'm sure my brother's pal used to live there. I'll be seeing the brother tomorrow and I'll ask a few questions. IIRC the Rennie Mackintosh connection was fireplaces designed by his partner which have been stolen or legally rem...

Hunterston and Inverkip are hardly located in towns. Power stations can pop up in scenic rural locations as well (Pinkston :-)). Unfortunately I wasn't around to protest their construction. Anyway, the argument against windfarm location is not singularly related to the visual impact. If you delve de...

A large windfarm (24 turbines, 300ft high) is proposed by an Irish company for the Duncolm area of the Kilpatrick Hills, an area mostly unspoilt. The largest area of support for this development locally is from the farming community who stand to profit from the sale/lease of the land, land supposedl...

Mustardman, The Loch Humphrey road has been a public right of way for some time despite these old signs indicating that it's private (see the Clydebelt website). The gate has been closed at High Gavinburn farm to stop mountain bikers destroying the path at the back of the Black Linn reservoir and at...

The current Vale of Leven team are not directly related to the old senior club although they play at the same ground (Millburn Park). Benburb's Tinto Park, although in a state of disrepair, is a great example of how old grounds were built as is Petershill Park. The remains of St Anthony's old ground...
