Re: Aggressive Begging in Glasgow City Centre. Getting worse

Car park at Stockwell Street. The "guys" who sit beside the machines that issue parking tickets. However had a well dressed female in late 20s claimed to be Romanian seeking help with bus fare to Edinburgh. Had a small note book on which she said she would write her address so she could po...

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

Lincon Ave flats got the barricades up round them. Demise appears soon. The Linkwood flat in Drumchapel appears to be next on the hit lost.

Re: Aggressive Begging in Glasgow City Centre. Getting worse

I remember James around the Partick area-Rosevale Bar- used to slip him a few bob. Maybe just to get rid of him. He was a sort of likeable "pest". A lot of people knew him in the Yoker/Partick area.

Re: Galbraiths

I worked in a grocers/diary part time in Duke Street Saturday's and after school Tuesdays and Thursdays. A relation owned the shop. I was 13 then 14 and got about 7 shillings. Plus some eggs or cold meat or pies probably at their sell by date for the house. But working from around 7.30am to 6pm on a...

Re: Aggressive Begging in Glasgow City Centre. Getting worse

Agree with Banjo. Same instrument different bloke. Terrible scraping noise. Has he only got three (out of) tunes! I actually saw a bloke in a Ford Ka drop of two women at Partick retail park who set up "begging" positions to-day.

Re: Aggressive Begging in Glasgow City Centre. Getting worse

A guy at Clydebank who plays a solid violin "thing" with a brass horn attached. He is never in tune. Plus the two stringed guitar "virtuoso" who could only pluck one string badly in Argyle Street on Saturday. Does anyone recall a guy who used to sing about out side the Rogano in ...

Re: Aggressive Begging in Glasgow City Centre. Getting worse

Which is the worst beggar playing a musical instrument? Or perhaps which beggar tries to play a musical instrument the worst? There are quite a few.

Re: Glasgow: Jobless Capital..is it really?

A comment made to me at Easter by some visitor's from Kenya. You must be a very wealthy town as so many people drive cars to pick children up from school at 3.15 pm. Made me really think -but yes I have to agree!

Re: World War II Bombing

Jeffrey is wrong. The actual date is 24th March 1943. Checking my dads ARP diary he notes" Wednesday 24th March 1943 Air Raid 12.15am to 2.00am "8" down out of 25 planes". The "8" down is wrong. He was on ARP duty at Yarrows at the time.

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

Councillor Mathieson yet again gives way to public opinion. George Square then "conegate" now a his big bang is to be another day. But it will some nameless "official" on the little matter of health and safety that stopped the demolition.

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

Music to blow the Red Road flats up to - the 1812 overture. A right daft idea. What message does it give to impoverished African commonwealth etc countries. Scotland must be very wealthy blowing up houses when we cant get any. Then there is the twin towers" factor".

Re: Queenspark FC v Clyde The real only firm.

And introduce the crowd to the players? Once went to see East Stirling play at the end of a season. Friends boy had a trial game for them. Crowd quoted around 200. I think it was nearer the 100!! And they lost!
