A British example is Southampton Airport where the rail station is just across the road, The Heathrow express is getting very expensive compared to the tube.If GARL is built will people use it or continue to use the bus? I fear the folk in Dumbarton/ Clydebank/ Bearsden/ Newton Mearns etc will just ...

Re: Corporation tunnel Albion Street

Would this have anything to do with using water power for cranes in the docks and various hoists.
I recall stations like Charing Cross had water ie hydraulic lifts.I seem to recall a water pumping
station at the top of the High Street on the left before the Cathedral.

Re: Carntyne Stadium

I recall around 1966 stock car racing at Carntyne Stadium. If I recall they had sort of "open" races where you could sort of turn up and drive your car round the track. Brian Hoskins(?) ran it I think. I recall there were a lot of guys from Armadale/Bathgate etc at these events. What happe...

Re: Glasgow Parks

Garscadden Burn Park in Drumchapel. Also I suspect Garscadden Wood is classified as a park although the forestry commission people and the friends of Garscadden Woods people have taken it over. Drumchapel Park is where the winter festival is. Although I think it was/is called Halgreen Park. Here are...

Re: New Transport Museum at Riverside

Can anyone tell me what the chances of this place flooding are? The River Clyde is no longer being extensively
dredged and it strikes me that with rising water levels the place could flood.

Re: Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games

To save money why not use the Olympic games equipment from 2012. It surely cant have been declared obsolete by 2014 ? Why not a reduced over 65 Glasgow Council Tax payer ticket so the old yins can afford to watch the lawn bowls at Kelvingrove. Why not get the school kids to design a games mascot and...

Re: Battle Burn

Used to work at Stewarts & Lloyds Tube Works at Tollcross. There was a burn that ran through a culvert near the entrance to the works. The works had a round-a-bout beyond the offices as you came in. The culvert cover was on a grassy area near it. From time to time the lab people took samples to ...
