Re: Youtube glasgow

I'd forgotten about Stookie! One of the boys in my year at school had a bit part in it. He might've been one of the boys in the Boys Club scene in ep3 but I'm not sure. But oh did we hear all about his starring role! :)

Re: The Barras and its future

I've just been along to the Barras to take a look at the Supermercado opening in the Barras Centre. Run by the team that organised the big 'Made in the Shade' independent makers markets in the Lighthouse, it's all looking promising and there's a real buzz about it. it's still very early days and the...

Re: Cessnock and the surrounding area

I feel a bit bad for a couple of the existing shops as they'll be hit hard - but some of them deserve it.

Had a peek in today. The Greggs is now separated off from the Tesco. But it's still all breezeblock and rubble. I'll be amazed if it's done this side of Christmas!

Re: Cessnock and the surrounding area

Looks like it wont happen delirium... think the reccesion has stalled the takers of these units, the former owners have reopend a furniture shop again that was there for many years previously. Meanwhile accross the road an application has went for a Greggs. It does seem to be progressing slowly now...

Re: Club Noir - Help!

Sorry, I'm a bit behind the times in posting as the one you were probably intending to go too is past!

Re: Club Noir - Help!

The summer ones are usually quieter, the really busy ones are Valentines and Christmas. It means the atmosphere isn't quite so good, but the bar queues are shorter... as they're atrocious otherwise. The acts can be mixed, some wonderful, some not so much and the whole thing has got generally more ma...

Re: Cessnock and the surrounding area

Anyone heard anything on this? The work was supposed to start in March and the store to be opened in the summer but there's no sign of anything. I expected the gas main work to delay things but that's been complete for a month or so now.

Re: Squinty Bridge / Springfield Quay riverside walk

Interesting to read this as, although I don't live in the Festival Park housing, I'm about as close to it as I can be. Personally I'm longing for this path to be opened up to enable a straightforward link into the Springfield Quay complex and a safer, more pleasant, direct walk or cycle towards the ...

Re: The Walrus & The Carpenter

I remember that wee shop. Although I don't think I was in it when I was young enough to appreciate it. There was a similar toy shop in Hamilton called Bustopher Jones. I used to go there to spend birthday money on furniture for my dolls house. It was a bit bigger than the Walrus & the Carpenter ...

Re: the big day - glasgow green

Custom House Quay was the other stage. Billy Bragg, Natalie Merchant and Michael Stipe played there. I can't remember who else. Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants were set up across the road.

Re: BBC Question Time

I was in favour of the appearance, purely because I wanted to see him and his parties 'policies' taken apart in front of as many viewers as possible. However, it needed to be handled carefully with the right mix of guests. They did not achieve that. They needed some more academic, charismatic and el...

Re: Glasgow department stores

It was usually Goldbergs we went to. My gran was loyal to it as they used to live down in the borders and came up to Glasgow as occasional trip to get 'rigged oot' in one trip. At that time Goldbergs would assign a member of staff, a personal shopper I suppose, to bring items to you. I assume if pre...

Re: Coliseum Cinema Fire

I must admit my first thought was the M74 extension. Although it's off the route of the actual road could there be any plans for another road around there to feed the traffic onto it? That's a very congested area between there and the Gorbals, could they be planning a new road to cut out Cumberland ...

Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Hi, I joined up ages ago but haven't posted as I usually find I get caught up reading posts and forget to say anything! I live in town, make corsets and like going long walks round the city (but usually forget to take a camera!). We love corsets!! Do you make them on a commercial basis, as I would ...
