Re: Glasgow or is it Glazgow... what is it to you?

Z.

And for the avoidance of doubt I am not - nor shall I ever be - a Weegie, even if I do happen to live there.

Re: Urban Park for underneath M74 Flyover

I once had to rescue a skateboarder from a concrete bowl in Kelvingrove substantially less deep than the one in that final illustration. Particularly icy day, bloke trying to show off, lost traction at the bottom and couldn't even crawl his way back up the ice. Quite amusing for me, less so for him,...

Re: Big fire?

Looks like you have lost the Brownie points The fire started in the tyre recycling yard on the right hand side of Meadowsite St, Renfrew as you head towards Christies Scrap yard. Christies and the other smaller vehicle scrap yard were not involved. Oh, ok, thanks. Renders the remainder of my commen...

Re: Big fire?

Fire started deliberately according to BBC website There are loads of scrapyards in Scotland. All the notable fires seem to occur in this one. Perhaps they're just more photogenic. Nonetheless. If I recall correctly, they had to close the airport down at one point because of an 'accidental' fire at...

Won me lots of Brownie points.

"There's a huge fire just down the road! Loads of toxic black smoke!"

Ah, that'll be the Renfrew scrapyard again, then. :-)

Side note : what do you have to do to be closed down these days?

Re: Halfway Houses in the 1920s and 1930s?

Here, this sounds like a quite interesting kind of project. Disclaimer : I've done no reading on this subject whatsoever, so any statement here is completely of the cuff. I think a halfway house in this context is the next stage up from a hostel, intended for individuals as a stepping-stone prior to...

Re: Southern General Redevelopment

It's a cynical ploy to keep the Western open. Surprised Dex hasn't commented on the spelling on the thread. Anyway, not going to happen. The Uni have post-its on peoples doors saying who will have the offices in the spring ::): "Subject : Re: Southern General Redevelopment" Good man. :-)

Re: What are you watching?

Well, I did try to watch the Netherlands v Argentina game, but as ever the ITV/STV site is utterly unusable - "Sorry, we are currently experiencing technical difficulties..." (I've never known them to not be), so I'm following it on an MBM elsewhere. On a similar note, I hadn't realised ho...

Re: Aggressive Begging in Glasgow City Centre. Getting worse

I have a very high opinion of the Roma community in Glasgow. The moment they arrived, all the locals who had been selling the Big Issue for years immediately got housed and handed over their pitches to the newcomers. What more can you ask for? I'm well prepared to overlook the entirety of my exposur...

Re: Thank goodness for the CW games

I've seriously considered moving out of Glasgow in order not to both be considered to have - as a resident - supported this shite and to have to pay for it. Except that that all of us Scots will have to anyway. I accept Crusty Bint's argument (from some time ago) that it may well be an excuse to spe...
