I took my first ever walk in Ruchill park at lunchtime today.

to travel to dundee from cupar its actually cheaper to use the bus than use the car(unless its a specific shop on one of the retail parks) to use the car it costs £10 in petrol plus £5 parking use the bus and its £7.50 return ticket Right, this one of my bugbears. Comparing the marginal cost of car...

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

Beavis thanks for that photo. Thats the actual lampost i was on about! Would be good to know where that road went and why its abandoned!! That road was the A73 before the 'new' re-routed part (i.e. the dual carriageway section that starts just north of Riggend) of the existing A73 was constructed i...

Re: Lost Retail Chains

I bought something from the Currys Argyle St (Finnieston) branch only yesterday... Isn't that a P C World? Yes It used to be a PC World, however it was changed into a 2-in-1 Currys / PC World superstore a few years ago. Dixons have changed a number of their former Currys and PC World sites into joi...

Re: Looking South East from Cranhill in 1966

How about the wee room up the pipe at Hogganfield Loch? Nope, I'm lost again. Steve, the reservoir at Ruchazie overflows into the Hogganfield Loch via a pipe into the burn on the golf course. If you crawl through the pipe you come to a wee room where you can stand up, the pipe from the reservoir en...

Re: Looking South East from Cranhill in 1966

Re the photo from the first link, if you look at the group of trees near the bottom of Cranhill Park you'll see two small structures amidst them. Does anyone know what the purpose of these structures was? Gold star to the first person with the correct answer. PS I'll be very impressed if any of you...

Re: A very long shot..............

It may just be coincidence but Texas Jack, the proprietor of the saloon, was a pal of Will Bill Hickok. There's stuff about the Will Bill 'visit' to Glasgow elsewhere in HG. Wil d Bill Hickock surely? I thought it was a typo at first but you did it twice. Most internet search results suggest Hickok...
