Re: Police quandary

What annoys me about both his tragic tale and that of Jean Charles is that the police involved seem keen to take up arms and the right to kill individuals, but the minute an attempt is made to hold any of them accountable for mistakes which end up in the loss of an innocent's life, they refuse to h...

Re: UEFA Cup Final

We've had two weeks to discuss the UEFA cup final: The fantastic convoy of fans making their way to Manchester, a disappointing defeat and the disgraceful behaviour of some bevvied-up knuckle draggers. Let's move on, eh? thegazman + Schiehallion, if you want to find out more about Rangers songs, to...

Re: Downhome Dumfries- Queen of the South

So where are the other 14500 for all the ordinary games? Every club has increased attendances for glamour games. Dexter is right, the old firm never seem to grasp that concept even although their own numbers swell when, say in a UEFA Cup Final. It happens at every level from the Junior Cup Final wh...

How's this open mic night going? Busy - not too busy - in terms of performers / punters?

Re: UEFA Cup Final

I've known one or two TE's and conductors in ScotRail who asked for an 'alternative' first name on their badge because there's no way they'll be working the last Gourock or Larkhall on a Friday night with a name badge with something like 'Pat' on it.

Re: UEFA Cup Final

That said, the extent of binge drinking was frightening. This is not a Rangers problem but a Scottish one. I saw people blind drunk by 11am. Take alcohol and add a flash point and the results are depressingly predictable. This is not to pardon the minority of neds who spoil it for everyone. But it ...

Re: Mystery football ground, Polmadie

I'd reckon Polmadie Woodburn FC were more likely to be a juvenile or amateur team. What age would your grandfather have been in 1913? They are definitely not a junior side (Crown Athletic then later Oatlands were Polmadie's junior club.) The C.J.F.T. is intriguing. C(placename?) Junior Football Tro...

Re: Mystery football ground, Polmadie

I've got a few others - any one in particular?

You sure about the spelling? I'd say it's Roseberry Park, any reference on the net is Roseberry Park and Roseberry Street runs right through Oatlands two streets from the ground.

Is the Roseberry St on the maps spelt wrong?
