Re: Tunnocks

For Scots exiled in the USA and especially in Western USA, I am happy to report that the World Market shops carry Tunnocks Caramel Wafers.

Re: A book'n'whisky

I also have open, a bottle of Johnny Walker's Blue Label, at around 130 quid a bottle it's a fucking joke - as rough as fuck. In recent years I've taken to having a bottle of cheap bourbon at home. It's much better than any cheap Scotch and as an occasional after a beer night snifter, it does me fi...

Everyone spends their money as they see fit. If you like it and you can afford it then why not?

Re: Madeleine

I agree that they should have been investigated/prosecuted for neglect of their children as that they were certainly guilty of that during the course of that holiday. I wonder if the authorities might have reacted differently had it been Britney & Shug fae Drumchapel rather than two doctors fro...

Re: tesco

Spot on Delmont St X. For me this sums up supermarket 'special offers'. To be fair to Tesco, this was from Morrisons, but in my view all the major supermarkets behave in a similar way. Another supermarket in the West End? I would be amazed to see how that helps anybody but the supermarket sharehold...

From memory, I think the demise of Sloans was not entirely unrelated to the demon drink.

Re: BrigitDoon's Birthday Laptop

I'll be thinking of a new laptop soon, mine is 3 years old and its starting to feel it, but i need my new one to have a card reader, over 2Gb of ram and bigger than 300Gb hard-drive You might be better off (and cheaper) buying a laptop with a smaller internal hard drive and then buying an external ...

Re: tesco

Interesting wee shops are all very well but you also need the basics and not everyone has a car or the mobility to go to a supermarket a couple of miles away. A lot of people live at the top end of Byres Rd and a Tesco would be a refreshing change from the coffee bars, eateries, building societies a...

Re: tesco

I was rather hoping for something a little more exotic for the former Woolworths store (I still lament its passing). I'm sure that "something exotic" is nice for some. For my elderly, and not too mobile, mother, having a normal supermarket at the bottom of the street will be a godsend. It...

Re: tesco

The top end of Byres Rd. needs a good, "normal" supermarket and a little competition between Tesco and Waitrose will not hurt.
