Cosmic Billiards - 20th March 2015

I'm sure lots of you will have heard about this by now, but in case you've not - there's going to be the best solar eclipse since 1999. The thing peaks at half past nine in the morning, and will last just over an hour in all. Here's hoping for clear skies. The Glasgow page of this handy wee website:...

Re: Bing! (West Lothian)

Somebody's been very busy. Over at http://www.scottishshale.co.uk they've uploaded a pile of digitised stuff from the BP archives. Worth a browse. Among other things, the Scottish Oils / Shell-Mex pavilion at the 1938 Empire Exhibition: http://www.scottishshale.co.uk/DigitalAssets/pdf/BP/212578.pdf ...

Re: Empire Exhibition, 1938

They certainly filled that site up. By coincidence, I found this today - a PDF of photos from the 'Scottish Oils and Shell-Mex Limited Information Centre and Cinema', which'll be down there somewhere in that photo. http://www.scottishshale.co.uk/DigitalAssets/pdf/BP/212578.pdf Screen Shot 2015-03-07...

It's like a barn raising, ain't it?

Re: The Buck Rogers Bar.

Oh I don't know, I would've quite liked that and would've happily gone there.*

Re: Dundee

FAO Cell, you might find some of these quite interesting - there are quite a few 'how to build an electric power station from scratch' photos from c.1908 in here. Being Carolina Port. Gone now

Re: Oddities

Either location was what I meant. I think. I'm confused now.

Re: What song are you listening to?

You certainly paint a picture, Mac. I'm there, man.

In keeping with the time period (sort of - early 80s but based around the Apollo high-jinkery), Brian Eno - Deep Blue Day:

Re: Black & White Photography

Lovely, VT.

Having looked at the Flickr comments, what a pity it doesn't work. It could be fixable, if some money was thrown in its general direction? You never know, it might not be very expensive to do.

Re: Animalz & Burdz

I'm sitting in your jacket lining, in the heat of the sun shining in through the window and guess what? I don't give a fuck. Yeah, I've opened my eyes and see you taking a photo. Still don't give a flying one. It's my jacket now .. live with it, slave. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7349/1653784486...

Re: Glasgow 1980, The Photographs of Raymond Depardon.

Maybe I'm being oversensitive about it all, but I feel a bit of discomfort with the idea of taking photos of people who are as far down as those in the first pic, especially as the guy in the middle seems to be trying his best to stay out of shot. The whole set is embued with squalor and if all you...
