This is so great, I can see my desk surface now! I can confidently say that, after having bought a new PC, I will never see my desk surface again. I have added to the general pile: More books about the Boer War, some of which might even be interesting to the passing layman; several hundred CD-Rs, a...

Kenny now runs Static in the Argyle Market BTW... Aye, I know. He was at school with our mutual acquantance Carter. And they were both about five years above me. Obelist moved to that wee line of shops behind the Trongate and just next to Paddy's Market. It was nowhere near as good and closed not l...

It was demolished sometime last year I think.

It was claimed that it was safer to demolish it. For safer read "cheaper".

Yeah, it was shut VERY suddenly because huge cracks appeared in the walls. I seem to recall the traders weren't allowed in for quite some time to get their stock because the whole building was structurally unsound. Then it lay empty for a good few years before it was demolished suddenly and without ...

Virginia Galleries

Anyone got any pictures or stories from any era of the Virginia Galleries? I've got many fond memories of spending my Saturdays in there, buying second-hand sci-fi books from Obelist and then going to have a gab with Kenny in Whiplash Records. A great place to hang about and meet your mates. Now, of...

I really should have posted here first of all... Hi, name's Dave. Strictly speaking I'm Aberdonian but my parent's are from Glasgow and I've lived mostly in Lanarkshire. I love spending time in Glasgow just walking around, looking up at some of the wonderful buildings that people don't seem to spend...

It's an incredibly long story. It's a research project to catalgoue the Scots involvement in the War. I'm transcribing the Scottish regiments from it, I'm up to K so far and I've got over two thousand names. Now I need to find out all I can about them.... Maybe in about twenty years I might be finis...

My mate Dave has been in Taggart twice (once as a glorified extra, once with a speaking part). Hes also been in Complicity and Still Game.

Nowadays he does a lot of the fight arranging for Taggart and River City.

Go look at his website: http://www.fightdirector.com

Yet more tunnels in Glasgow

I have a friebnd who used to be a baker in either the Central Hotel at the station or what is now the Millenium Hotel at Queens Street station. He was telling me that only one of the hotels had a bakery, so there was a tunnel between the two so that the morning rolls could be taken from one to the o...
