Re: Whit's fur tea?

Merry Christmas, all of you.

In keeping with tradition, I plan to be eating a big Chinese takeaway today. I hope Jesus would approve.

Re: St Mary's Church Drumchapel Rebuilt

The Redeemed Christian Church of God are an interesting bunch, it would appear. I'm more with Desmond Tutu on this one, naturally enough.

Anyway, good that the building was saved. 'Fountain of Love', though. Fnaar.

Re: Links to funny, cool or interesting stuff

If you ever wondered how to get a scaffold round the top of your 200-foot chimney stack then you're in luck

(There are links that'll tell you how to get a ladder up there in the first place.)

Re: Dundee

What a fascinating film, man. Conflicting - on the one hand, how exciting to have that impressive bridge appear; on the other, the cheerful wiping away of the past. The new traffic patterns and new shopping precinct are now regretted at leisure. (In particular, the loss of the old Overgate. Worth a ...

Re: second hand tv remotes

It is only 40 miles away.

And thanks for adding to our knowledge of second hand TV remotes, four years later. I'm sure you have no ulterior motive.

Re: Staglieno

An in-cemetery bus service? Not bad :)

That second-last one's quite something - what an expression. How on earth would you even begin to learn how to sculpt like that?

(Go to an art school or be apprenticed in about 1850 I suppose, but you know what I mean.)

Re: Edinburgh

At the risk of sounding like a panic merchant, I tend to see it like David Black does. I'm probably going to leave soon, partly due to what he outlines there. It's just too bloody awful to stick around and witness, in a city that I do love. Not that anybody loves New St Andrew's House or the St Jame...

Re: New York Blizzard 2015

A *bit* of a late reply, but what beautiful photographising going on there. There's a lot to be said for Winter being proper Winter - none of this footering about. Be impressive, dammit!

Re: Edinburgh

Ed-Evening-News not good at journalism  The first one, who knows? No really - I just don't know what to make of political stories in the press now. You end up going with your own prejudices - in my case that the Evening News/Scotsman are a weird Daily Mail Mini-Me, and if they said the sky was...

Re: Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines

I can't say I'm entirely sure what it is (meaning I don't have the faintest idea), but at the risk of namedropping, I saw a fairly vintage-looking four engine wingèd thing parked up at Tempelhof airport when I was fortunate enough to visit earlier in the month. Whatever it is, it's rather nice: http...
