Re: Fountains Lost and Found

There used to be a drinking fountain at Woodilee Hospital - it was the memorial to the staff killed in World War One.

Re: Interior of St. George's Tron Church

Hollowhorn, I hope you don't mind but I've posted your pic on my forum.

I'm going to go in next week and find out what happened to the original plaques. If they've been removed I'd like to at least know they're in a safe place.

Re: Interior of St. George's Tron Church

Re: Interior of St. George's Tron Church

Any sign of the war memorials? One used to be at the entrance and the other was on the left hand side wall of the church.

Can't see them in any of your pics, but I assume they've been moved.

Visiting Barlinnie

Apparently Barlinnie Prison has a war memorial for some of the staff. I'd like to visit and photograph it for my site - does anyone know how I would go about arranging this? I've had a look online but if you search for visiting Barlinnie it's all about visiting a prisoner - which obviously isn't the...

Re: Old Medals

Let me know the names on the medals, I have a few sources I can look up for you. The Egypt Medal had two issues - the first had the date 1882 underneath the Sphinx. The second issue dates from 1885/5. Are you sure? On Victorian coinage, the "old head" would have been after 1892. I appreci...
