Re: Lockerbie Remembered

Howdy, I'm surprised it took so long to let him go, Mr. MacCaskill seems to want the prisons emptied as a matter of policy. But listening to him spouting crap about Megrahi "facing a higher power" makes me wonder if our justice system is the new religion. Who needs God when politicians ca...

Re: Lockerbie Remembered

......................... Do not be distracted from the issue. A politician has decided that killing 270 people is not sufficient to keep you in prison if you're terminally ill. Remember this. MacAskill is responsible for criminal justice in Scotland. His decision is criminal but it isn't justice. ...

I confess I couldn't help but wonder, as Megrahi's bags were carried up the steps to his plane, if someone would bother to check what was inside before take-off.

Re: Binge Drinking

There's a lot of political posturing about Diageo. To imagine Scottish Enterprise will find a business case where Diageo couldn't is fantasy UNLESS a whole bunch of public money is injected. At some point somebody is going to have to do a cost/ benefit analysis and either pay up or not. The sooner ...

Howdy, Will this not-for-profit organisation hand her successor £180,000 a year? Re: Lockerbie Remembered

There's something about the current furore that doesn't make sense. PS Megrahi dropping his appeal does not leave the prison transfer option open (according to today's Herald); the Crown is still appealing against the length of sentence. For prison transfer to work there must be no judicial process...
