Re: Rain, violence and chips: this is Glasgow,

Judging by how this discussion has got everybody talking, perhaps Zoe Ross is correct in her assessment that: "....religious sectarianism that remains strong throughout Glasgow ...." It's the 21st centaury and still this old chestnut never fails to get gums bumping in Glasgow. Bearing in m...

Re: Rain, violence and chips: this is Glasgow,

From a travellers perspective. Glasgow is similar to most post industrial cities e.g. Belfast, Baltimore or Newcastle(NSW). Only worthwhile visiting if you have the time/money/inclination after visiting the main attraction e.g. Dublin, Washington, Sydney or in our case Edinburgh. It's tourism, not s...

Re: Dundee

getting caught up in a huge corruption scandal to do with redevelopment contracts. I forget the details my father told me, but a guy over on SSC's fine Dundee thread reckons he owned the demolition company that got most of the business I was under the impression it was his brother in law that owned...

Re: Drumchapel

What Tombro means is:

"the obnoxious Mr Sinclair....thinks he's God's gift to forum discussions...but... Most see him for what he is though, a sad little man trying to gain attention."

Correct me if I am wrong Tombro.

Re: wedding venue!

Was at a wedding in St Andrews in the Square recently. Has the feel of a church wedding without being in a church, If you know what I mean. http://www.standrewsinthesquare.com Catering was good also, as well as being able to drink outside in the City centre. All in, I thought it was an excellent ven...

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

Are we going to get another unelected PM because Nick Clegg is better looking than either Gordon Brown or David Cameron? We're going to get another unelected PM because we don't elect the Prime Minister. Technically, absolutely correct but there is no denying that voters often do not know or care w...

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

So the campaign mantra of it was a two horse race between Lab/Con, turned out to be false. The 'other' parties were excluded from the TV debates as none of their leaders could become Prime Minister, but now we have the possibility that the next PM might not be one of the three who were on TV. Are we...

Don't let that stop you Brigit, whoever becomes next PM won't have been voted in either. Just brass it and move into number 10 first.

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

Just got out of the polling station and was met by a guy pishing through the fence. Not with his back to the crowd, 'full frontal' if you will. Loads of grannies and kiddies about but everybody was too embarrassed to pipe up, except me. Always ready to employ sweary indignation at daytime displays o...
