Re: Revamp for Odeon

Believe me - the place was a total dump for the last few years.

Broken furniture, old cleaning products and the odd bit of film reel case and that was it. As I said, plenty dead animals and mould but nothing other than that.

Re: Revamp for Odeon

It certainly looks like a projector reel. Christ! Didn`t they even think of preserving some of the prized artifacts they were still in that building? Just how philistine are they? As for that "proposed" replacement for the block. Truly truly hideous. Another ugly enamel colossis bloating ...

Re: Someone on here will be able to identify these things su

No problem BD. It's interesting, I was thinking of this query this morning while walking for the train, and it was surprising the number of the things I spotted just in a short 5 minute walk. If there is a fairly new building in an area, you are bound to spot them - corners of streets, half way alon...

Re: Someone on here will be able to identify these things su

Yeah that's exactly what they are - 'Survey Stations'. They put them in , verify them with a base station electronically and then take measurements of a site or building from these relative points, all to a high degree of accuracy.

Dont ask me how right enough.

Re: Glasgow City Mortuary (CPM)

I remember when the Great Eastern closed down/was closed down, and a brilliant, if somewhat depressing, exhibition was staged in the place some weeks after. It was so much more effective as it was an exhibition about life there and was staged right there, in the wee rooms with all the mess and graff...

Re: Choose 3 buildings you'd like to introduce to a bulldoze

Agreed on the M8 city centre section. It is not an original idea by any stretch, many students and professionals have suggested likewise over the years, but I always though covering the trench over with a linear park running from as close to the river as can be to north of Charing cross would have ...

Re: Driving in the Dear Green Place.

Dear Council People, While you are at it, and generally I think these changes could be for the better - certainly the better control of taxis at Queen St station - can you please also look at methods of controlling the ridiculous amounts of taxis that park outside Central Station at Hope St/Argyle S...

Re: Choose 3 buildings you'd like to introduce to a bulldoze

You could cover from Sauchiehall Street down to St Vincent Street more or less at grade. Other parts probably a lot more difficult with level changes but even that main stretch would do a lot of good IMO.
